The molecules in the individual solid particles break free of their regular rigid framework by vibrating more energetically. Eventually the particles of the solid lose their shape and fuse together as a pool of liquid.

Particles of a liquid have more thermal energy than particles of the same substance in solid form. As a gas, the particles of this same substance have even more thermal energy. A substance changes state when its thermal energy increases or decreases sufficiently. A change from solid to liquid involves an increase in thermal energy. As you can guess, a change from liquid to solid is just the opposite: It involves a decrease in thermal energy.

The particles become more separated from one another (though they still remain relatively close as compared to the gaseous state). They may slide over each other and no longer need to vibrate about their fixed positions, as in the case of solids.

it will change to liquid

The particles are no longer fixed by the forces keeping it a liquid

The particles change mean speed and concentration.

What are the changes in matter when eyeglasses fog up?

The change of matter occurring when glasses fog up is a gas into a liquid otherwise known as condensation. this happens because the lack of energy in the gas particles cause the particles to bunch up and get closer together, they then form a liquid.

What happens to the composition of matter during a physical change?

It can change from a gas to a solid to a liquid, or from a liquid to a solid to a gas. This change does not affect the composition of the matter.

Change of matter from a gas to liquid?

condensation

When the potential energy of a material changes what happens to the materials what of matter changes?

In a solid the particles are close together and in fixed positions In a liquid the particles are still really close together but can move around past each other In a gas the particles are free to move and far apart During a state change the particles in the substance will change from being in one of the above to another

How will you show that by applying pressure particles of matter can be brought close together?

by applying pressure the particles of matter come and the intermolecular space between them shorten and they change their state from gas to liquid and the intermolecular space between the particles of liquid is more than that of gas.

Why do particles of the solid change into a liquid when you heat?

when we heat a solid we supplies latent heat to the matter which breaks the interparticular force between the particles of the matter and split them more apart from each other. And when the closeness of particles erase away and a gap between these particles forms it converts into liquid.

What happens to matter and the particles of an object during physical change?

The particles are affecting the form of a chemical substance and not turning into a new substance.

What happens to the particles when a gas becomes liquid?

Particles that make up the liquid are given so much energy (or heat) that they expand away from one another. So as a liquid increases in temperature, some of the particles jiggle so much that they pop out of the liquid. Increasing the temperature further, more particles jiggle out of the liquid. This is what is observed when matter goes from liquid to a gas: the particles expand away from each other.
