well usually animals know there own kind and so they mate the opposite gender but there is an animal living and is a mixed animal. he is a zorse-half zebra half horse named Eclyse. in the wild, horses and zebras never mate but it occurred that it was a farmer had the zebra and horse living close together at a horse farm, as the result a rare unintentional zorse was born, it has the head and rear end like a zebra with the pattern and had the white body and tail as the mother horse.

this paragraph is explaining rarely different animals mate but if they did it would be mixed with the features of both animals. hope this helped!
