If your Playstation 3 is connected to the internet the Trophy information is updated. This happens automatically and Sony indicated that when the PSN was down (After April Hacking shutdown) that even trophies earned in offline play during the shutdown would be posted after PSN was brought back up. If you are not connected to the internet you may find that you have earned more trophies when you are connected. Trophies allow other users to see how advanced you are and you do not have the ability to update delete or remove them
