What happens when you get salmonella?

The only way to know for certain if you have salmonella is to be assessed by a health professional. This usually includes lab tests.

You may have salmonella infection if you have a fever, vomiting, diarrhea, GI cramps. These may last up to 4 days. You may become dehydrated and will have to have IV fluids. Talk to your doctor if you feel very ill.

Salmonella infection causes fever, crampy abdominal pain and often bloody diarrhea. The infection will usually clear on it's own after a few days, but sometimes antibiotics are needed for the very young, the very old, the immunocompromised, or for cases that don't get better on their own.

Uncooked/undercooked poultry and eggs, unpasterized milk, contaminated water, and from reptiles whom most likely carry it.
