Can you clean violins?

yes DO NOT USE WATER You can use fine steel wool to wipe down the strings mostly just where the bow touches (do not touch any other part of the violin with the woo take a clean cloth (dust cloths are good) and wipe down the violin. be sure to get the part around the bridge you can also buy violin polish (do not use regular wood polish) if you are using polish take off the violin string and chinrest. dont use a lot of polish and use small circular motions to put it on. the less polish you use the better let your instrument sit for a while before putting the strings and chin rest back on. to clean a bow take the frog off and pull the hair away from the bow. run a dry cloth up and down the bow. if your bow is wooden you can polish it. if your bow is fiberglass the polish won't stay and it'll make a mess. if your fiberglass bow is really dirty you can wipe it down with a small amount of water but do not use much (use one of those wet wipes) and dry it well do not use water on a wood bow or on your instrument. if you polished your bow let it sit before putting the frog back on if not put tue frog back on then you are done
