The only way that this could happen is if the switch is a change-over/two-way switch or a switch to a lamp/light. When you switch on, you are short-circuiting the mains. Probably, educated guess, you need to wire the fan across two other terminals if it is two-way, or you need to wire it in to the ceiling rose of the lamp, not the switch. The problem with switches in lighting circuits is that the wires to the switch are not positive and negative, they are usually both positive - one from the supply, one to the lamp. Unless the current drain to the fan is huge - unlikely.
Yes. Simply turn on the ceiling fan while the light switch is in the "on" position. Adjust the spinning to the level of your choice. Now the fan will turn on and off when you switch the light on and off.
There is a fault with your electrics to the fan/switch. Get in an electrician to fix it. ------------------------------------------------------------ The switch is bad. Turn off the power to the fan in the main panel, turn off the breaker that powers the fan. Usually if you remove the bottom cover of the fan you can see the switch. You can remove the switch and take it to a electrical supply store and they will match the switch. The wires should all be color coded so you should be able to put in back in and hook it up. Black to black, white to white.
No
Yes, that is correct.

The fan control switch is located in the bottom driver side of the radiator if your fan does not turn on when the car has heated up to temperature unplug the fan switch and jumper the plug not the switch side if the fan comes on the switch is bad.
easy way to test it by bridging the fan switch with a piece of wire and if the fan comes on then the fan switch is broke if not check the fan fuse in the fusebox and if that's ok then the fan has gone.
You need to specify WHICH switch you're talking about... Low pressure switch? Fan control switch? What?
When 1990 Honda is running cooling fan does not come on but comes on when engine is off and I thermostat and temperature switch changed?"
start at fuse if ok check switch if switch ok check wires to fan.at fan switch u can jump wires to see if fan comes on
The fan does not have a switch - the thermostat switch runs the fan.
its the fan motor and its behind the CD player and hard to get to
You have a bad blower motor. i have seen a lot of the switches go bad turn on the fan and try pushing down on the fan switch and see if the fan comes on Just to add a liitle to this reply generally if it is your fan switch not all of the speeds burn out at the same time so try turning the switch to every position if any of them turn on ur fan than its just the switch if none of the fan speeds work than it is your blower motor.
Depending on what type of fan, the fan control switch can be located on the wall for a ceiling fan. Each type of fan will have a different location for the fan control switch.
No. The cooling fan is run with electricity, and comes on at a set temperature. It is controlled by a thermal switch.
