If your story is true, you have unfortunately been caught up in a criminal investigation. During the investigation of the offense the detective(s) should be able to either confirm (or disprove) your alibi, and you will no longer be a person of interest. Hopefully (for you), at the time your license was stolen you reported the theft of your license, and/or applied to the DMV for a replacement. This would tend to bolster, and lend credence to, your story.
