Rub some leave in conditioner into the knotted area. This will help the hairs slip loose easier. Hold the hair firmly in your hand above the knot so it does not pull your scalp. Use a comb. Start at the bottom of the knot, and slowly start with a small section, and comb it out. Just keep working your way up further into the knot. Take your time, and just keep going until the knot is worked through. It may want to reknot for a few days after, so just be sure to take extra time combing or brushing through this area for a few days, until it starts laying flat with the rest of your hair again.

When tying a horse to the hitching post, you should make a slip-knot. You can find a diagram on how to make a slip-knot by maybe using Google or Bing. You want to make a slip-knot because if something happens when you are interacting with your horse, say if your horse spooks or a car is heading for your horse, you can pull the end of the knot and it will break free so the horse can run away safely and quickly. By using the slip-knot method, you AND your horse will not be in danger of things that you can't move away from quickly because if you tied him up with just a regular old square knot, you would have to have some pretty fast fingers to untie that kind of knot.
In short, yes. The full biological/zoological answer, however, is much more complicated. The knot one would normally find in a dog penis, known scientifically as the Shrodenburger Knot, is based on the type of knot one would normally use to tie ones shoes. The knot found in a skunk penis is of a different sort, and is commonly compared to the type of knot one might use whilst sailing, or tying a noose.
