Hiram Bingham was an American academic, explorer, and politician known for his contributions in the fields of Archaeology and history. He is best known for his discovery of Machu Picchu in Peru in 1911, which brought international attention to the site. Bingham also wrote several books based on his explorations and research, including "Lost City of the Incas" and "Across South America."
