The American Revolution took many ideals from the French philosophers, Voltaire and Rousseau, who believed in individual freedom. Their contribution to the art world with the Impressionists, Barbizon, Romantic painters is immense, opening the door to modern art. Their cuisine is arguably the world standard for taste as well as presentation. The French language is not only beautiful, but has given English many words as well. And don't ever forget, that without France and its support, there would be no USA. The Marquis de Lafayette helped Washington and the French fleet was critical in the American victory in the Battle of Yorktown, which finally kicked the English out of the colonies that became the US.
