A VDU should be positioned about 26 inches in front of the user, at a height that puts the lower 2/3 of the screen below the level of the user's eyes. It should be located where glare from windows and other lighting will not impair viewing of the screen.

The user may need slightly different corerctive lenses than are needed for everyday use.

Paper documents used used with the VDU should be placed at the same distance from the user and about in the same plane as the screen, and should be illuminated adequately for easy reading.

Keyboards should be at about the height of the user's elbow, and place so that the user's upper arms are roughly vertical when typing.

Chairs should be adjustable so the seat is high, or low, enough that the feet can be placed flat on the floor (or a raised foot rest) while the thighs are roughly horizontal.

It may be helpful to reveiw guidance for "office ergonomics."
