There are several different reasons why feet may hurt. You may be wearing uncomfortable shoes, in which case, replace them with comfortable shoes. You may be walking too much, in which case, walk less. Some people who are very heavy place too much strain on their feet, in which case losing weight could help. In some cases, a special shoe insert called an orthotic can give you a better weight distribution and prevent your feet from hurting. There are other possibilities as well. Only your podiatrist knows for sure.

Well, it really depends. If it's just sore feet from running or the gym, just rest them. If it is really aching, go to the orthopedic right away. The best thing is to basically do the cold-to-hot method. Ice first, to relive pain and swelling. Then, hot like a heating pad to loosen muscles. Just rest them, and find a cheap ace bandage or brace to last you until the orthopedic. Good luck!

Anytime a person has pain or increased or decreased sensation in the extremities, (feet, arms) they should see their doctor. There are many reasons for these symptoms, including neuropathy, a sign that a person could be diabetic, or some type of vascular problem- which would indicate Heart disease. IF the feet are burning and aching from, say, running a marathon (there is a simple, obvious reason for the condition) than elevating them with an ice pack can be the best solution. There are creams over the counter that you can rub into the feet that will soothe them, and if the aching is really bothersome, perhaps some ibuprofen (over the counter anti-inflammatory medication often known as "Motrin") can be used.
