Window regulator and motor
To replace the window crank handle on the 1993 Geo Prism, first remove the interior door panel. Then, access the screw that holds the window crank in place and remove it. You can then remove the handle itself.
If by " rolls down all by itself" you mean that it slowly slides down while traveling in the car, then my advice would be to take the door panel off and check to see if the window came off the the lower clips. If every thing looks sound and or the window is electronicly rolling itself down I don't know what to tell you.
the frame that holds the window in is bent and you have to change the whole inside of the door not just the frame.
I have a 1992 cadillac seville. The window won't go up. The window motor is working. I want to see if the glass window itself is off the track. How do I remove the inside panel of the door to get to the glass window?
inside the door is a plastic piece that often breaks, that is what holds it up and its probably broken.
In almost all makes of car you have to replace the window regulator. That's the entire mechanism that holds the window and raises and lowers it.
A window not rolling up is a easy fix. If it is a automatic check the fuse first. If that is not it then it is probably off trak and the door panel needs to be removed to straighten it back out.
Do you mean the main switch by the driver or the switch on the door itself?
A window is held in the door track of a car in two ways. First, on the bottom of the glass inside the door panel there is a grooved channel with attachments fitted to them. The glass is secured in the bottom this way, and is attached to the raising and lowering mechanism. Second, the glass fits into a groove above the door panel, assuring it slides in place.
door
If you are referring to the child-safety locks that prevent the door from being opened from the inside - they are located on the door jamb of the door itself and look like little black switches that stick out. On mine they are on the back edge of the door itself located below the level of the window glass area.
If the door is not closed and the draft is going out the window, then yes. An open window can indeed make a door open.
