The chief hormone in males is testosterone. In females it is oestrogen.

During puberty, several hormones are produced which prepare the body for sexual and physical development. The main ones are testosterone in boys and oestrogen in girls. Both also produce progesterone, however it is mostly concentrated in females as it aids in reproduction. The hormones are released by signals sent from the Pituitary Gland in the brain, trigger the hormones to be released either from the testicles or the ovaries.
What happens is it releases sex hormones. Estrogen and testosterone. Both males and females have both hormones. Now, when these hormones are released in a teenage female during puberty, they work their way around the body so she is able to develop breasts, hair under the arms, legs, and genital and anal areas, and of course every woman's favorite part, the monthly menstrual cycle.
