1.) For me it would always be family.

To me a career is what gets you money so that you can spend that money on doing things with the people you love or enjoy to be with. The thing is it's NOT important to have money to enjoy spending time with your family but if you had no family.......what would you do with your money?

I don't know if this helps and it seriously depends on the circumstances and what you are considering as 'family'.

2.) Family first and foremost, always. My husband joined the military almost 2 years after we were married, and I was 6 months pregnant at the time. 3 children later and on his second deployment, he realizes that he has missed out on so much. His "career" has caused all of us (including him) emotional and mental health problems ranging from depression, PTSD, separation anxiety and transitional issues.

So to answer your question, rethinking what we have been through, we both would choose family, because when the day ends, they are the ones who are supposed to bring you happiness...money buys things, but will never make you truly happy.

3.) I would choose family over career any day.

Why? because you can ALWAYS replace a job...theres only one mother, one father, etc...you can't replace a lifetime of family .Family should always come first, thats where your support comes in, they will always be there for you...a job only cares ONLY about you coming in and doing a job and a job can always be found else where.

4.) career, bcoz first time family will think that we are doing wrong, but if its is in the favour of family they will papreciate it later, but carrer shud be good, no vulgarity, means almost some time girls choose modeling or u know it very well which type of carreer i am talking about, if our career we are going to choose is good for society, good for our parents than we have to choose it

5.) It's kind of sad that having that choice is a luxury. I have the luxury to put careers on hold and raise my kids. Parenting is my current career path. I'm fortunate that my partner supports me in that. He doesn't have that choice and I know he'd like to. He does have the next best thing though. He has the security that the only person who cares about his family as much as he does, is at home looking after them. While he is obliged to work, I am supporting him in dropping his career, which will be a pay cut, and being a teacher, he doesn't have great pay now.

I think the question is flawed. I'm pretty sure most people work for the sake of their family.

6.) wow, I had to do this. I had to decide if I wanted to stay with my boyfriend (my future family) or stay with my career. My husband was leaving the area because of his career and would not be back...ever. I decided to stay with him because I loved him too much. I gave up my career. It was very hard on me but we have been happily married for a year and a half+ now.

7.) family! no matter how good your job is, you can always be fired or replaced. family as it is important than anything in the world! Family all day. Nothing should be more important than the people who love you.

8.) This choice would present no problem at all for me

Careers come and go but the love of a family is a lasting thing. Ill admit that Ive never been much of a career person anyway and have always just seen a job as a means toward a paycheck. Even with jobs that I have loved however I would never let them come before my family and although I never reached a high management position I dont regret a second of the time that I spent with my family. Children and grandchildren grow up and you cant get those special times back if you miss them and thankfully I didnt miss many moments that I should have been there for. Once you retire and start to look back you realize just how little that job really meant. Sure you have some nice memories (some not so nice ones too) but you soon find that you can function without a job and that the company can most assuredly function without you. Your family on the other hand will always need you and will love you even when there isnt anything that you can give them except love. Just how long would you last at XYZ enterprises once you stopped being able to produce wealth for them? I wouldnt trade even one of my grandsons hugs for a corner office, a personal assistant AND a key to the executive washroom.

9.) I think family and love go together, but maybe not for all

It depends ..............not a career ever. My family is very important to me, and I love them all very much. I am single, and if I found the love of my life and he lived far from me, that would be a very difficult choice. My mother is elderly and relies on my siblings and me a lot, so that would be a pull in one direction. Yet, at one time, I thought I had met the love of my life, across the country, and I think I would have moved to marry him. Things ended up not working out, but I still would have had some guilt about moving away from my family. I would miss my daughter so much if I had to be far from her. Now, another thought on this question.......if I had to give up my family for love, I wouldn't do that. I mean if a "love" told me that he didn't want me to be with my family, he'd be out the door very quickly. So, for me, it would be a difficult decision between love and my family. My career is ok, but not nearly as important as those I love in my family.
