Lethargy and loss of appetite can be caused by many things, including lower urinary tract disease. Because this is often fatal, you should take your cat to the vet at the first sign of symptoms.
Possibilities:
* Cat has taken a dislike to the food. This can happen even when the cat has always liked that food. * Food could be bad. * Cat could be ill. * Weather could be hot. * Cat could be punishing you. * Cat is just being a cat. If this behavior keeps up and the cat is losing weight (and especially if the cat is not drinking water), take your cat to see a veterinarian. There are many possible causes. One is an enzyme deficiency that can be remedied with a supplement. Another is a tumor. Only your vet can advise you properly.
There are several possibilities. The cat may feel uncomfortable in its new environment. It may not like the food you're serving. It may not like the dishes you're using (certain plastics can smell "funny" to cats).
Or the cat could have a respiratory infection. This is not serious, and will likely go away on its own, but it will cause the cat to stop eating for a week or more. Cats won't eat unless they can smell their food, so a cat whose sense of smell is dulled by a respiratory infection will not eat, no matter how hungry it is.
These infections spread fast in animal shelters. When I brought my cats home from the shelter, both of them had it. If the cat sneezes or wheezes a lot and has red, watery eyes, then it's probably a respiratory infection.
If the problem persists longer than a week, you should take the cat to the vet. It's always best to take a new cat to the vet for a complete checkup, anyway.
In the meantime, try different brands of food and different dishes (ceramic bowls or dishes, or paper plates). See the Related Question below for help picking out high-quality food brands.
If a cat is lethargic, take it to the vet. The vet can exam it, and run a series of tests to try to find why the cat is lethargic. The vet will also be able to provide the owner with the proper medications if they are needed.
A cat will not eat if it's temperature rises above 105 degrees. They will also usually become inactive and avoid housemembers. If this occurs the cat MUST be taken to a vet for treatment.
Unusual lethargy in a house cat may be nothing, or it may be a sign of a disease. You should take him to the vet to see if there is any cause for the lethargy. One of my cats became quite lethargic about a year ago, and the veterinarian diagnosed "Bartonella's Syndrome", or "cat scratch fever". A dose of antibiotics restored her to her usual vigor.
Take to a vet ASAP!
i No This Sounds Stupid, But a Really Lazy Cat... Because their Instinct is to kill birds. so it has to real lethargic to not be bothered to do it.. Good luck with that one
If your cat is lethargic, get it to a vet right away. This means they probably have a very high fever and have some sort of infection or bacteria that is going to need treatment.
Not sure on this, however worms can present health risks such as anemia and being lethargic among others. The needed anesthesia could intensify these or complicate things further. Best bet is to rid the cat of worms first.
Yes, not sure what kind it is, but it can make a cat lethargic for several days.
Take your cat to see an animal doctor (a vet). The vet will diagnose what is wrong with your cat and tell you what medicine it should be given.

If you suspect a cat has been poisoned, take it to a vet immediately! Even a small amount of poisoning can be fatal to a cat if not taken care of as soon as possible.
