Texting is so much easier than talking but at some point it has to be done, so when he is relaxed and having some fun with you text him back saying that you would love to hear his voice right now and see what happens. If the guy is interested enough, he'll take the hint and he will call- maybe not on that day if he's a little shy, but sooner rather than later.

Text the guy once, but don't text him over and over if he doesn't answer it. It gets repetitive and irritating, and if you text over and over even though he isn't responding, you either seem desperate or slow to get the message. I doubt you would want to convey either message.
