You will have to drain part of the coolant. Try to drain as little as possible and fill up before restarting the engine. No, the thermostat is usually at the top of the engine block (placed between the top input hose and the block). If, however, the radiator is full of coolant, there will be some spillage. Also, make sure the coolant has cooled down before replacement, and do periodically replace the coolant as needed.
The engine coolant on a 1991 Honda Civic is replaced by turning the drain petcock and releasing the coolant. The filler cap is then removed and coolant added until the system is full again.
If coolant full could be a bad sensor
drain radiator by unscrewing drain plug at bottom of radiator. drain fluid, close drain plug, fill with distilled water(in resivoir tank ) run till hot , turn on heater on high in car, drain water , repeat 3 times . last time add pure coolant it will mix with water in block for 50/50 % mixture. run and top off to full line on resivoir tank , check next few days make sure its on the full line marking on resivior tank.. Repeat every 4 years to be safe. " DRIVE LONG AND PROSPER"
Add coolant to the full cold line on the coolant reservoir when engine is cold.
no it doesnt........the overflow container is just there to catch the extra coolant.......it has nothing to do with the heating system
The coolant level sensor is bad
Radiator full and coolant recovery tank filled to mark Radiator full and coolant recovery tank filled to mark
maybe cuz its low on coolant
you add coolant untill it is full ?
im assuming this is the intercooled engine.... pull off the bottom water hose on the radiator drain coolant refit the hose top up the coolant via the expansion tank on the inner wing when it looks full( to the full mark on tank not full to the brim) start the engine and let it get warm so the thermostat opens and turn the interior heater on full and set the control to blow hot air then check the coolant level top up if nessesary rev the engine a few times if u have over filled it it will overflow..... dont worry bout it it will settle
on info panel when warning shows just press reset on right side of instrument cluster amke sure your coolant tank is full if warning returns the sensor can be gummed up with engine sealent used by gm, replace sensoe or flush reserve tank with hose, drain it a fill with coolant
