Just tell her you are afraid. Otherwise, she is thinking that you just don't like her and are trying to blow her off. Don't be embarrassed to tell her, a lot of guys feel nervous around girls and a lot of girls are nervous around guys. my girlfriend and i haven't kissed yet because she is nervous but i dont have a problem with it. if she doesnt want to continue dating you then find someone who likes you for YOU not your tongue.

I really don't think that it should be an issue if the intentions were soley platonic. What should it matter if he had a girlfriend or not? Most males keep things to themselves and holding out any info about a girlfriend from you might have been just a courtesy to you by him. He might think that you would be uncomfortable with the idea of spending time with a man while he a girlfriend.
