There is information omitted from this question that is necessary in order to answer it. How long ago did this incident take place before it was reported to the police? Was it reported in a timely fashion? Did any evidence of the assault exist at the time the police responded, or were contacted by you? Do you, and/or the other person, have a "history" with the police of this type of incident? If you wish, you CAN request an appointment with the prosecutor's office and relate the circumstances of the incident to them and see if THEY will institute a charge.
