With a 'friend' like you, your friend certainly doesn't need any enemies. . .Looks are subjective, but when a person has an ugly character, it tends to show over time.
If you want to be mature, act it. Tell your friend it would make you feel awkward to ask out a guy for her. Then break up with your boyfriend, instead of using him as a back burner until you get something you prefer. This other guy will date who he chooses to and it might not be you.
