The black box or flight recorder records everything that is happening on the flight deck. It records the audio of the headsets and records all the flight parameters such as height, speed instrument positions etc. In an aircraft incident investigators can look at the flight recorder to give an indication of what was happening during the accident. What actions the crew did and what condition the aircraft was in. From this the investigating body can find what went wrong and what can be changed to fix the issue. If it wasn't for the black boxes many aviation accidents would go unsolved.
A good example of the benefit of the black box can be seen in the accident of air France 447. Initially they didn't find the black box and had to go from the aircraft damage etc. From that they were able to determine that the aircraft had a pitot icing incident which the crew miss handled and they stalled the aircraft and plummeted to the ocean below. They assumed this was due to incorrect setup of the aircraft to standard procedures for handling such an issue. From this the investigators implemented recommendations to improve crew training.
They recently found the black box which semi confirmed what the investigators thought.
The aircraft did ice the pitot tube causing miss reading of instruments however from the audio recordings etc they were able to see that the crew didnt do the correct method to fix the problem. They were also able to find out that the crew didn't even identify the stall of the aircraft till way too late. They found that the person with the least experience was in control and they kept pulling back on the stick. Even though the crew knew what the problem was they didnt fully identify the correct way to fix it. From this new information
the investigators were able to better improve their recommendations to suit what happened.
All of this wouldnt
happened if it want for the black box recorded allowing them to know what really happened
on that dreadful night.
Black Box Recorder ended in 2010.
Black Box Recorder was created in 1998.
A black box flight recorder records various information from a commercial flight. A single black box recorder costs around $60,000.
The Worst of Black Box Recorder was created on 2001-08-21.
Black Box is an component of an airplane in the time of crash or accidents. The Black box consists of the Flight Data Recorder and the Cockpit Voice recorder. The Black Box is actually painted in bright orange.
The black box was invented in Australia by David Warren in 1953 and were produced in 1957.
The color of the black box is orange.
