Starvation was one of the hardships that the Indians had to endure during the Trail of Tears. Exhaustion was another hardship, they were forced to walk for very long periods of time. Many did survive the journey.

When the trail of tears occurred the group traveling was a large group. It was hard to provide for such a number and when they arrived in the Oklahoma territory there was a terrible winter in which 4000 Native Americans died. Google trail of tears and winter of 1838-1839 and it should lead you on a good trail yourself. Take time toread how the tribe took the suit to the Supreme Court and won ( which did not mean much, did it?)
