A rider faces many possible injuries when jumping a horse. You could fall and break or shatter a bone or multiple bones, you can break or damage your spinal cord which can result in paralysis. You can also incur head trauma, such as skull fractures and / or brain damage. However those injuries don't just apply to riders who jump, but to all people who ride horses. There are ways however to help prevent or reduce the likelihood of these injuries. When riding always wear a helmet as this one piece of equipment is the most important and will protect your head. Also a protective riding jacket or vest is a good idea to prevent injuries to the torso and spine.
