There was no speech about you having a dream. He did write a speech about having a dream of his own called "I Have a Dream".

This was based on his hope of equality for all people regardless of color. He wanted a world in which people were color blind and responsible and honest citizens regardless of their color or heritage.

The part of 'the Dream' was taken from a speech/sermon that King had been delivering several times before in Church services. On this historic occasion he held a partly improvised speech in which he was on the verge of getting stuck. Famous Gospel singer Mahaliah Jackson quickly noticed that he was floundering and shouted to him: "Tell them about the dream!" Martin Luther King fortunately heard and picked up her advice and the rest as they say is history.
