Money. Many people forget that Shakespeare wrote his long poems in order to make some spare cash, and that he wrote his plays because it was his job in the theatrical company he worked in. The sonnets were more for personal pleasure and for his friends (so said Francis Meres in 1597)
In one sense, he was inspired by many of the books he had read, because that is where he got his plots from. We have a very romantic idea about poets being "inspired" to wax poetic by beautiful women or sunsets or things like that, but we have no reason to believe that Shakespeare was inspired in this way. Even his sonnets are more intellectual than passionate.
Iambic pentameter is the type of poetic meter that is commonly associated with William Shakespeare.
Shakespeare influenced every single English language poet who came after him.
Shakespeare affected our language by adding a number of new words (e.g. assassination) and by popularizing a number of phrases which have become standard. He also set high standards for poetic expression in English.
All of them.
The poetic form is called a sonnet.
Most of Shakespeare's poems are sonnets, but there are also long narrative poems written in couplets.

Two writers who influenced Charles Dickens growing up were William Shakespeare and Miguel de Cervantes. Dickens admired Shakespeare's poetic language and storytelling, while also being inspired by Cervantes' satirical and comedic style in "Don Quixote."
He wrote almost exclusively in heightened or poetic language.

Shakespeare's most well-known sonnet is Sonnet 18, which begins with the famous line, "Shall I compare thee to a summer's day?" In this sonnet, he explores themes of beauty, love, and the passage of time, ultimately asserting that the subject's beauty will live on through the poem itself. Its timeless appeal and vivid imagery have made it a quintessential example of Shakespeare's poetic genius.
