How many gigabytes does World of Warcraft Cataclysm use?
My "World of Warcraft" folder takes about 15GB on a 350GB drive with 2 partitions. It took about 20GB to update my Lich King to Cataclysm; 5GB was temp space and returned after the update. I would make sure I had at least 40GB to make sure I could get updates (which sometimes measure in the GBs.) The newest version of the streaming system is better than earlier versions, but still needs the temp space.

Its hard to say as each model can have a different range of specifications even if its named the same way. You may need to be more specific as hp g62 and Dell vostro 1540 can have different serial numbers. But lets see what i can do to help. I did some research and found out they lie at around the same price. The HP g62 is better as most models had the Intel I5 Processor whilst the Dell vostro 1540 only had the I3. the Dell vostro 1540 tended to have around 2GB memory at 1333mhz whilst the HP g62 tended to have 3 - 4GB at the same speed. The HDD space in the HP g62 tended to be 350GB disk space and the Dell vostro 1540 tended to have 500GB of disk space. I'm not sure about the transfer rate but i'm guessing both hard drives run at around 5200rpm which is the normal speed for middle range laptops. The video card in both laptops tended to be the Intel HD chipset which is pretty basic for a laptop. Don't expect to do high quality gaming on this equipment if that's what you're planning to do. But don't worry i'ts perfectly capable of running many other programs. Dell and HP are pretty trustworthy companies yet Dell tend to rip you off a bit sometimes because they are well known, a bit like Sony.

this changes with time. currently average storage of a hard disk is about 250 GB when purchasing a new computer. The highest amount of space I have seen on a new hard drive is 1.5 TB (that's 1024 GB * 1.5) and the smallest I have seen is down to a few MB (1024 MB = 1 GB) but that's for a very very old hard disk.
