The term anorexia nervosa was established in 1873 by Sir William Gull(1st baronet), one of Queen Victoria's personal physicians. The term is of Greek origin: a (α, prefix of negation), n(ν, link between two vowels) and orexis (ορεξις, appetite), thus meaning a lack of desire to eat

The name of the eating disorder anorexia nervosa is derived from, like most scientific and medical terms, the old latin language. The part anorexia, on its own also a medical condition simply means a complete loss of appetite, no desire to consume food etc.. I would presume nervosa meant something like 'self induced' or controlled, lack of desire for food. For reasons to maintain thinness or an avoidance of weight gain. You get the jist. hope that helped at least half of your curiousity :)
