What is Georgia Railroad and Banking Company stock worth?
The Georgia Railroad and Banking Company circa 1837,
eventually merged with First Union who was acquired by Wachovia
who was acquired by Wells Fargo who is still very much in business.
I would guess that a Georgia Railroad and Banking Company stock
certificate would be worth something to someone there if nothing
else than very good marketing.
The Georgia Railroad and Banking Company even honored Confederate specie issued by themselves after the Civil War and paid a dividend to it's shareholders every year it existed save one year 1865. The Georgia Railroad and Banking Company was the most prestigious bank in the South if not in the entire US. Contact someone in Wells Fargo's marketing department. You may be surprised. It probably has a surrender value but would also make a heck of a PR piece for banking stability.

Most of the bank industry is tied in with the stock market. The stock market is tied in with technology. When the first iPod came out, stocks on Apple were rising, which altered the banking industry. I always think of the banks being a base for the stock market, since that's where the money is held.
