Why did Gaahl leave Gorgoroth?
Gaahl's tenure in Gorgoroth officially ended in 2007 when he assisted bassist King ov Hell in attempting to fire founding member Infernus. This began the Gorgoroth name dispute. This dispute was concluded in March 2009 when a court ruling decided Inferus was the rightful user of the band name, and it was ruled that Gaahl and King had excluded themselves upon attempting to remove Infernus in October 2007. Gaahl retired from metal music in July 2009. Despite having claimed to be working on lyrics both during and after the name dispute for an album that was supposed to be released under the name God Seed but was ultimately released under Ov Hell, he lacked enthusiasm and so decided to retire.
