For having 6 wives and Starting the church of England(now known as Anglican.) For chopping people's heads off!
Henry VIII was known as a good king, if slightly crazy one. His more famous doings are breaking away from Catholicism when the Pope wouldn't annul his marriage, and so King Henry created the Church of England. He also had six wives: he divorced Catherine of Aragon, beheaded Anne Boleyn, Jane Seymour died of childbirth, divorced Anne of Cleves, beheaded Catherine Howard, and died before anything nasty could happen to Catherine Parr. He also fathered Queen Mary, a.k.a. Bloody Mary, who burned 300 Protestants after she married Philip of Spain, turned the country Catholic, and brought the Spanish Inquisition to England. After Mary died, his other daughter Elizabeth inherited, and some of her nicknames were Good Queen Bess and Gloriana. She was possibly the best ruler of England, bringing the country into Protestantism and letting England flourish. She reigned from 1558-1603.
