It is an investigative mystery game produced by the DET (Department of Education and Training)* in New South Wales, Australia.
Murder under the Microscope is an online environmental science activity for school students in grades 5 to 10, typically children aged 9 to 14 years. It establishes an "ecological crime" that has a victim (a plant or animal species), a villain (an activity, pest, or problem), and a location or crime site (within a global region).
Once the science activity begins, teams of students will research and analyze the evidence to solve the crimes. The project culminates with the students submitting an answer to where the crime is, who/what did it and who/what it is affecting.
