close Distant
Near-sighted means able to see things clearly only when up close, that distant objects are less clear. Another term is "myopia." In the opposite condition, farsightedness (hyperopia), objects are clearer at a distance than they are up close.

Near object form bigger angle and distant objects form smaller angle. From this angle formed, you can judge the distance between near and distant objects. But their is limit to the smallest angle, you can perceive. That is why you can not note difference between the near and distant stars.
"So close and yet so far" is the more common, but both imply the same thing.(The comparison uses a metaphorical meaning for far: distant as in not emotionally close. The close is physical distance, the far is relational distance. )
In a Galactic sense they are very close to each other. In terms of Planet Earth they are far apart. When speaking of the hemisphere they aren't even close. In terms of Continent, they are distant neighbors. As the United States, they are out of driving range for a three day weekend.
