A "Nintendo DS" is a hand held game system. It has two screens the bottom the touch screen where you can control functions with this screen, and the top screen (the normal screen) lets you see what you are controlling. The games packs for the "Nintendo DS" are very small. The Ds also has a "Pictochat mode" it allows you to talk and draw pictures with each other the chat rooms (A,B,C and D) hold up to 16 people. The DS can also play "Gameboy games." (The touch screen is not usable for the Gameboy games). The DS can play many games from "Call of Duty" to "Mario games".

The Wii is a console put out by Nintendo. It steers a little away from the traditional gaming experience of using a controller and pushing buttons and joysticks. You use a remote and various attached controllers (such as the nunchuck) to play. It is motion sensitive, so the games use different motions to play. For example, in the game WiiSports, you swing the controller like a bat to swing your character's bat. Some games have more complex control techniques than that though. It is basically the motion thing that is making this console so popular with people who aren't usually that interested in Video Games. The motion makes it more of a party experience versus the old way pushing buttons.
The Wii can be extremely hard to get due to its popularity, and is often sold out at most store, however Nintendo has recently increased production.
GAMES
There are so many games. It's not like you just sit there fiddling with a controller. YOU MOVE! You are active on these games. The Wii comes with a "Sports" disk. On it there is... Baseball, Golf, Tennis, Bowling, Boxing, Football and more. Plus there is a Wii games disk that has fun games that are very entertaining from previous privileges of using this amazing game system. There are definitely so many other games out there. Guitar Hero, ROCK BAND and WAY more beyond belief! Believe me I love those games too!
I highly recommend this. If you are looking for a game system that has the news, chatting, internet, (you have to do a few extra things for it) Miis,(a character you make) and much more, it is worth all of the money. With the price dropping I believe this would be a wonderful Christmas present. The Wii is definitely for kids AND adults. I am sure you would be as impressed as I was with this game system.
VIRTUAL CONSOLE GAMES/WII WARE
When you first get the Wii, there will be a channel included called the Wii Shop Channel. This is a channel where, using Wi-Fi capabilities, allows you to buy games that were on old systems like the N64 and Sega Genesis using Wii Shop Channel Points which you can buy at local stores. There are dozens of games to choose from and the list gets bigger every Monday. Wii Ware is the other type of game that you can buy on the Wii Shop Channel. These are games produced by Nintendo that can only be bought on the Wii Shop Channel and are one of a kind games. They aren't major games, but rather games that are fun and can still be enjoyable with your Wii points card.
CHANNELS
There are dozens of channels that can be downloaded on the Wii. The channels that are available as of 2/17/09 are Disc Channel, Mii Channel, Photo Channel, Wii Shop Channel, Forecast Channel, News Channel, Internet Channel, Check Mii Out Channel, Everybody Votes Channel, and the Nintendo Channel.
The Nintendo DS can be used for a lot of things. The most common thing it can be used for is for playing DS games. It also can be used for its Pictochat function for talking to friends from short distances. It also can be used to play Gameboy Advaced games. It alos has complete use of Nintedo WiFi abling you to play with people around the world. It also has the Download feature where you can play game that other friends have (of course this doesn't apply to all games). Nintedo is coming out with the new Ninteno DS called the DSI. It is rumored that it has a camera, can synch up with the Nintedo Wii, and has mp3 capabilities.
Does your child get bored, complain or generally drive you bonkers in the car? Buy them a Nintendo DS system and you may never have to hear, "Are we there yet?" again! Nintendo DS is a small, handheld video game unit. The games are in the form of tiny cartridges. The Nintendo DS is fun without any game cartridges! It comes with many activities already loaded on it. Your child can hook ear buds up to it so you don't have to hear it at all. Almost any game that is available for larger systems is also available for DS.
