I have a 1995 that had the same problem. Turned out that the relay for the dashboard release switch was binding and holding the latch open so that it couldn't close. I just disconnected the cable from the relay to the latch. Can't use the dash mounted release, but the window now closes. Hope this helps. I have a 1995 that had the same problem. There should be a fuse panel box close to the battery. Open the lid and there will be several fuses and relays. The lid of the box shows the layout of the fuses and identifies the location of the fan relay.
