RRU the Remote Radio Unit is a radio transceiver capable of handling multiple of 8 mobile subscribers calls. This is called RRU as this unit is generally installed in towers and are controlled by a controller placed inside a closed shelter on the ground nearby the tower. The connection between the RRU and the controller is generally optical. The RRU and the controller forms the BTS or Base Transceiver Station that is widely used in cellular communication.
