== == SDI stands for the United States' Strategic Defense Initiative, the program proposed by President Ronald Reagan in 1983 to the nation as a response to the Soviet Union's actions of aggression during his terms of office around the globe. SDI is based on space-based ICBM interception capability - it was quickly nicknamed "Star Wars" by the popular media. It signaled a fundamental shift in U.S. Foreign Policy concerning Nuclear Weapons and the START negotiations as a whole. While previous years had been based on the MAD (Mutually Assured Destruction) principle, SDI was meant to be a pro-active "shoot-em while they're in the air" doctrine based on surviving a Nuclear Attack by the USSR.
Although there were many Soviet actions of aggression in Reagan's time, the one act that really brought things to a head was the Soviet downing of Korean Air Lines (KAL) flight 007. The deliberate destruction by a Soviet fighter jet of a civilian airliner with both South Koreans and Americans on board, including Congressman Lawrence McDonald (Georgia) prompted Reagan's "Evil Empire" speech directed at the Soviet Union not long afterward. SDI was announced at another speech to the nation 5 months later. Tensions during that period were the highest they'd been since the Cuban Missile Crisis.
By pursuing SDI, Reagan angered the Soviets by abandoning the Anti-Ballistic Missile Treaty of 1972, in which the U.S. agreed not to pursue any Ballistic Missile Interception system capability. That treaty was seen and regarded by many to be a major hindrance to real peace in the age of Nuclear Missiles. However, in the end, it proved to be the final straw that broke the Soviet Bear's back and forced then Soviet President Gorbachev to make major concessions with Reagan at a summit in Iceland. Financially incapable of competing with the development of such a large scale techonological project, the Soviet military all but became bankrupt several years later, leading to withdrawals in countries they had occupied for years, and the eventual fall of Communism in Russia altogether.
The downside - by forcing the Soviet hand, their withdrawal from east-bloc countries uncorked the lid on centuries old ethnic tensions that had been put aside because of WWII and Soviet occupation afterward. It's always much easier to plan to defend against an enemy you know well, but not so for many enemies you hardly know, which is the state of the world today. While the first answer "State Disability Insurance" might be correct for the State of California, it does not fall into the Technology category.
SDI Technologies was created in 1956.

SDI stands for standard diesal injection
SDI stands for serial digital interface and is the standard for broadcast television video links within studios and production environments. It uses a single co-ax cable with BNC terminations and is a one directional interface. It operates at a data rate of 270Mbits or sometimes, 360Mbits. An SDI connection will not operate with HD SDI. HD SDI is physically identical to standard SDI but the data rate is 1.483Gbits, about 5 times that of standard SDI rates. It is used for HD video and related data such as audio, metadata, closed caption, idents, test patterns and error messages. An HD SDI input or output will also operate with SDI rates. Cables are normally identical although HD SDI is limited to shorter lengths compared to SDI.
If you want good fuel economy, the SDI is for you. If you want a lot of torque, your best bet is to go for the TDI. The SDI doesnt have a turbo but the TDI does.

The primary proponent of the Strategic Defense Initiative (SDI), also derisively known as Star Wars, was Ronald Reagan.
No. Benefits are not taxable, unless your SDI is in place of Unemployment Insurance. In this case, your SDI benefit is taxable.
SDI consists of only one form whereas MDI can ontain more than one form
SDI stands for Serial Digital Interface. It is a *format* for transmitting video over cable. The cable can be a coax, ethernet, whatever - SDI simply dictates how the video is coded over those wires. Consequently SDI must be encoded and decoded on either end of the cable. A common use would be to feed video to a HD-SDI switching unit for use in a live broadcast situation. If you plan on switching HD video it's basically the only way to go under $10K
SDI, the "Strategic Defense Initiative," was the brainchild of Ronald Reagan. The liberal press of the day ridiculed the idea, labeling it "Star Wars."
SDI stands for Standard Diesel Injection (No Turbo) whereas TDI stands for Turbo Diesel Injection. Daithi
The California SDI cap is figured year to year, since it raises with inflation. In 2014, the maximum tax that could be withheld was $1016.36.
SDI is a Single Document Interface. As opposed to MDI which is a Multiple Document Interface. the difference is solely in the number of documents that can be opened at one time in each instance of the application. With SDI only one document can be open whereas with MDI many documents can be open.
See http://www.extron.com/company/article.aspx?id=sdi for a good discussion on this. The summary is that with good equipment and cable you can get 100M/300ft. If you want to go further than this, use SDI to fibre converters. With single-mode fibre you can get up to 10km.
SDI made people think of Star Wars. It was not really what inspired Reagan to promote the plan.
it became a united nation.
