Scout is the yougenst of two chldren and the narrator of the story. We read the book as a story seen through eyes but narrating as an adult (or so it would seem from her turn of phrase and grasp of adult themes). As a child though, she is annecdotally described as caring, thoughful (for the most part) and has a sort of hero worship of her father (as do most kids). We must assume that she is possessed of good observational skills and a decent memory in order to recall the events with such detail. She is a bit of a 'tomboy' prefering a bit of rough and tumble over dolls and dresses. This may partly be through not having a mother to assist or influence her in this regard. There is a female cook/maid but she is more utilitarian than nuturing so Scout's main influences are from the two men in her family.

Nowadays, the book is widely renowned and regarded as a great work of American literature, as well as one of the greatest books ever published. The main character, Atticus Finch, is a universal symbol of justice because he is Caucasian lawyer who legally defends an African-American from a crime in a time when many people are racist (the book was published in 1960 and many say it helped the Civil Rights Movement).

Despite the fact that she is a tomboy, Jean Louise (Scout) Finch is also very smart and headstrong. In the beginning of the book, Scout is also very naive which kind of indicates her innocence (for example: at the jailhouse at might when she starts talking to Walter Cunningham.)

She is the narrator of the book. As the book progresses, the reader sees changes in her personality and role in the book. In the beginning, she is about 6 years old and has a horrible temper and loves to get into fights. Over the chapters, we see her become more mature and controls her attitude a lot better. She symbolizes innocence and maturity throughout the book. Hope that helped. :)

Scout has a combative streak and a basic faith in the goodness of the people in her community. Scout eventually develops a more grown up perspective that enables her to appreciate human goodness without ignoring human evil.

i think Scout is a young girl full of energy and loves to have adventures with her brother. She thinks herself as a young lad as she wasn't as girly as the girls back in them days.
