Best Answer

The Spinosaurus was most closely related to other Spinosauridae, such as Baryonyx. The next largest group they belonged to was the Megalosauria, such as Megalosaurus, and then theropods, which include bipedal, lizard-hipped, and mostly carnivorous dinosaurs, ranging from Tyrannosaurus to Velociraptor. Today, the closest living relatives of Spinosaurus are the only surviving theropods, the birds. Ironically, even though non-avian dinosaurs died out, the birds have diversified into nearly 10,000 known species, making them the second most diverse group of vertebrates in the world today after the perciform fish.

Spinosaurus was a theropod that lived during the early Cretaceous. It was around 59ft. long and weighed around 9.9 tons. Be aware that all of the Spinosaurus ever found were subadults, meaning there could be larger specimens. It was also the largest the theropod.

Here are some awsome facts about Spinosaurus, one of the largest killers that walked on 2 legs.

Size: 60-65 feet long, 18 feet tall ( 23 feet including sail ).

Weght: 4-13 tons.

Lived: Creataceous, 100-88 Million years ago, Africa.

Diet: Meat, mainly fish, but eats dead land animals and hunts smaller dinosaurs.

Weapons: 7 foot long skull, meat cutting teeth, rather powerful bite, 5 foot long arms with enormous claws.

Why it went extinct: Uncertin, but probably climate chage and lack of food.

Rivals: Rugops, Deltadromeaous, Carcharodontosaurus.

If Spinosaurus was alive today, we would probabaly end up as snacks.

Spinosaurus was a theropod, or meat eating dinosaur, but it has no evolutionary descendants. Its closest living relatives are birds, which evolved from small, feathered theropod species.

Do spinosaurus canibalized their own kind?

There is no evidence of cannibalism in Spinosaurus. However, many reptiles are cannibalistic on occasion, and there is a chance that Spinosaurus was, too. If it were, however, the only cases of cannibalism would be when large Spinosaurus killed and ate the young offspring of other Spinosaurus.
