There is at least one island country very near the North Pole called Spitzbergen. Needless to say, not a tourist mecca.
Denmark, followed by Norway. The nothernmost point of land is Greenland, which is administered by Denmark. The northernmost town is on the island of Spitzbergen, part of Norway. Both are well above the Arctic Circle, and experience the "midnight Sun" where the Sun doesn't set for weeks or months at a time. There are a number of other islands in the Arctic Ocean that are part of Russia and which are a little north of Spitzbergen, but I don't see any towns or villages depicted on Google Earth.
