The Variable Inertia Charging System(VICS) system on any motor, not just Mazda motors, is essentially a separate series of butterfly valves and runners to adjust the length of the manifold to shorten it for low end torque and to lengthen it for high end torque in an attempt to get "The best of both worlds". On the mx-3 in perticular the vics system is simply an open space on the intake manifold that is used to moddify the vaccume of the manifold to increase or decrease preasure.
was wondering where the inertia switch is on a 1996 Mazda protege

where is the inertia switch on a 626 maza 1994
You have a problem with the charging system. More than likely the alternator has failed.
It means something is worng with your charging system. Check first your alternator if its charging. Check if belt is loose or broken. Check voltage of battery. Might be undercharged.
they dont have one.
Inertia fuel shut-off is not shown in the Haynes Manual.According to the service department at the local Mazda dealer there is not one, and none is listed by the parts department.
There is no fuel pump inertia switch on any Mazda. These are found on Ford vehicles.
If you're looking for a fuel pump inertia switch, the Mazda 626 does not have an inertia switch like the fords use. The only parts that control the fuel pump are the pcm, fuel pump relay, and the fuel pump fuse.
==headline== needs answer, nothing to do with charging system.
