A Capture Challenge is where Pokemon Rangers can go to competitively capture Pokemon. It is all in good fun, though. The aim of the challenge is to earn as many points as possible to beat the high score.
In capture challenges, you must capture as many Pokemon as you can in three minutes (or the time allocated). Each Pokemon captured scores you different points, and the rarer (or harder to catch) the Pokemon is, the more points you earn. These points are added together to make your overall score. Capture certain numbers of certain Pokemon and you may find they unlock others. Also, get high enough scores, and more Pokemon will be available for capture. All Pokemon are released once captured, and you cannot use any PokeAssists. The challenge ends once the time or the styler energy is down to nothing. However, you can quit early by pressing 'Start'.
There are three Capture Challenges that are available in the Fiore region: the Grassland Challenge in Ringtown; the Marine Challenge in Summerland and the Capture Arena in Fall City.
