MANN is the company that makes OEM oil filters for Volkswagen, the oil filter upgrade is ESSENTIAL TO THE CONTINUED LIFE OF YOUR ENGINE!! it corrects a fatal flaw in the design of the 1.8t passat and A4 that left it using too little oil in the sump this combines with the high temperatures put off by the turbocharger can cause chunks of oil sludge to gather in the intake screen for your oil pump and starve your engine of the oil that is in it. Typically, after you put the larger filter on (nothing else is needed, just the larger filter, it even spins right on the same way the old one does)you will need around 5 quarts of oil to refill the engine
