The red "I" or "DI" or even the red "TDI" stands for more power than the regular "TDI" (with no red letters). The more letters are red, the more power the engine has. Usually around 15 - 20 horsepower for each red letter.

According the the Haynes Manual (No. 1801, Skoda Favorit 1989-1996) the bolts should be tightened to between 17 and 20 Nm. Once all are tightened to this torque they should then be tightened a quarter turn each, and then another quarter turn each. The manual also quotes a torque of 20-23Nm for the cylinder head nuts.
I have VW Golf 1.9 TDI, fuse number for cigarette number is 42 (20 ampers). I guess the numbers are all the same, if it's a 5th generation golf. Tomas
40NM initially on all head bolts Then... 60 degrees on all Then another 60 degrees on all Then the M12x140mm bolts are a further 20 degrees
its about 10-12 depending on how u drive and if its stock or not if you drop the dpf and get a good tuner you can get 17-20 mines getting 24 regular but i upgraded everything and got a spartan tuner with maximum setting and custom made upgrades othe than that not all the good
Also: I live in Rhode Island and work a full time 9-5 job right now. I just got a second job that is a work from home job on my computer (10-20 hrs week) I start this job sometime next week. On Monday I will be going into surgery so I will be out of work (my 9-5 job) for 2-4 weeks. Can I collect TDI if I have this second job that is work from home? The second job will only pay once a month so I will not receive a pay check from it for another 2 months.
40 NM then 60degrees then another 60 degrees then 20 degrees for the biggest bolts they need to be tightned in order and new bolts should be used check a Haynes workshop book
