A battle light is a low intensity red lamp used in warships and inside tanks, artillery, and personnel carriers during night operations.
Battle light preserve night vision by two means. The lower intensity of the light helps to reduce the dilation of the iris, allowing more light to enter the eye. The second is related to the construction of the retina. The retina is composed of two types of cells, rods and cones. Cone detect color (wavelength) and intensity of light. Rods are sensitive primary to intensity and communicate shades of gray or tones to the brain. Rods work best at low light levels and are our primary means of seeing in low light (night time) conditions. Rods are most sensitive to light in the 500nm wavelength range (corresponds to the blue/cyan range) and are blind to light in the 620nm (red) range. Not being stimulated by red light, this makes red light or battle light conditions optimal for soldiers and sailors who must be able to see to perform fine detail operations and still be able to see well in the dark.

Yes, Battle Fader's effect is a trigger, activated in hand when an opponent's monster declares an attack. Light and Darkness Dragon will chain to and negate this, meaning Battle Fader is not summoned and the battle phase does not end. Note that Light and Darkness Dragon does not destroy the cards it negates, so Battle Fader will remain in hand. It can be activated again when the next attack is declared.
