Is this a genuine enquiry of the use of the nasty invention I was told was referred to as a cat's claw? If it looks like a 3D asterisk, made of iron and possibly with one prong up to 2 or 3 times the length of the others, it was invented to throw,in large numbers, across roads, to disable horses and donkeys, ridden or used for haulage. It often resulted in the horses death and is not at all the same as us standing on a tack. I believe, later, they were used to puncture tyres. They came in different sizes. Sadly, I"m so used to reinterpreting manglish questions, I find I'm not sure if this is genuinely a question about cats claws, which most people seem to think or a query about nail clippers for cats or actually what it says...
