A Circulated 1983 US Cent is worth its face value.
Starting in 1982 The US Mint changed the composition of cents from Copper to Copper-Plated Zinc due to the rise in cost of Copper.

I'm guessing you must mean US "wheatie" pennies, made from 1909-1958, before the reverse was changed to show the Lincoln Memorial. Actually, through 1982 these pennies were made of 95% copper. Copper today in $2.87 per pound, making each pre-1983 penny worth 1.9 cents. So a roll of 50 is worth 95 cents for melt value.US "wheatie" pennies may also have collectible value, depending on the year of mintage, mint mark, if any, and most importantly, condition. If they are uncirculated (mint state - untouched by human hands, new looking) they are much more valuable. Those made before 1930 are almost all worth at least a few dollars, because they made very few in those days.If you mean Canadian pennies, which have a maple leaf on them, the answer would be different.no they do not so there
a 1983 penny is only worth its face value of 1 cent
There is no such thing.
All 1983 Lincoln cents are Zinc. Spend it.
In circulated condition, the 1983 Lincoln memorial penny is worth just 1 cent unless you have a doubled die. It's the uncirulcated and proof coins that hold some value depending on the mint: Philadelphia: $0.25 Denver: $0.25 San Francisco: $2.75 (Proof Coin) An Uncirculated doubled die from Philadelphia is worth nearly $300
In circulated condition both are worth 1 cent . Uncirculated 1983 cents are worth a bit more than 1988 ones but in either case they're common coins that sell for less than 50 cents except in the topmost grades. My guess is that you mis-heard one of the many variations on a brain teaser, "Why are 1988 cents worth more than 1983 cents" (or some other dates). The reason is that when spoken instead of written, the wording can mean "1,983 cents ..." so the joke's answer is "because 1,983 cents are worth $19.83 but 1,988 cents are worth $19.88"Bada-bada-BING!
This is actually a rather hard coin to find in high grades, but if it has been circulated at all, it will only be worth a quarter.
A 1983 Juan Carlos coin is worth about $1 to $5. The exact amount will depend upon the condition of the coin and if it has been circulated or not.
