A bass soloist is a person who performs music on the bass instrument by himself/herself.

The highest sounding string instrument, called the violin, is slightly smaller than its cousin instrument, the viola. Other members of the stringed instrument group are the bass and the cello, each played standing up or sitting down. ~ Hexedgirl92
Double Bass. (The Piccolo is- I believe- the highest sounding member of the woodwind family of standard orchestral instruments whilst the Double Bass is the lowest sounding member of the String family).
It depends on how big the instrument is
Basso continuo, sometimes just called _¾_continuo_¾, was played by a keyboard instrument and another bass instrument such as cello, violone (an old form of double bass) or bassoon. The keyboard instrument was normally a harpsichord or, if it was being played in a church, an organ.
The lowest sounding instrument in the ORCHESTRAL string family is the double bass. It is also the largest. Hope I helped. :D
An electric bass guitar is often used with acoustic ensembles, but there is the problem of a too-loud amplified bass guitar. This disturbs the sound of the whole ensemble. The bass has never been the loudest sounding instrument of that group.

Usually and normally a piano is used as an accompany instrument (e.g drums, bass guitar, etc). But there are some forms of music that allows the piano to be the lead instrument, or the solo instrument
