Flapper- was a female fashion style in the twenties and thirties and is hard to describe. it was applied to more or less reckless or adventurous women of the period. unusual wide-angle hats, something like the Australian, were sometimes affected as were lengthy Dunhill pipette cigarette holders. it was Flapper, not flipper.
