There are no studies to show that garlic is effective as a dewormer. Puppies are extremely susceptible to GI parasites and these parasites can be deadly, so deworming with a known effective product is recommended.
Dosing will depend on the deworming drug used.
While it is still probably safe to give them, their effectiveness cannot be guaranteed. It is better to go ahead and get a deworming product that is not out-dated rather than take the risk of exposing parasites to a product that may only kill a portion of the parasites while leaving others that have been exposed to the drug and thus may develop a resistance to it.
